Being active is one of our body’s defaults. There are lots of different types of physical activity: walking, running, swimming and cycling are just a few. Recent surveys show that many kids are not doing enough physical activity. It’s probably a head shaker for some especially to your little sprog but what perks does it give when you do let them lose on the field for a while?
Here are the top ten reasons why being active would be a better option for your kids:
1.It reduces their long exposures to gadgets
Did you know that gadgets such as smartphones, tablets and even handheld consoles could potentially harm your kids because of the harmful electromagnetic radiation (EMR) that these devices emits? These devices still releases these radiation waves even when the units are turned-off!
2.It maintains their healthy weight
Getting into the move doesn’t only make the day fun but it also stabilizes your weight! A healthy and physically active lifestyle will benefit your kids’ health specifically their weight.
3.Strong bones and muscles
On at least three days per week, young people should engage in activities that strengthen muscle and bone.
Playing outdoors is a fun way for kids to learn about nature and have time for physical play. Although there are plenty of fun indoor gross motor activities, being outside allows you move around more and play on equipment, like swing-sets and jungle gyms.
Strengthening activities include climbing, skipping, dancing, hopping, or tug-o-war.
4.Improving balance and stability
Shaky balance can spur a downward spiral. Often, kids begin moving around less during the day, voluntarily cutting back activities. Muscles essential to balance grow weaker still, and unsteadiness rises in response. So does fear of falling—and falls.
Just standing up, going for a short walk or stretching every so often would be one of many ways of going active in order to maintain a relaxed yet supported posture.
6.Preventing diseases in later life.
Engaging in any physical activities prevents a child's risk for a number of diseases and conditions, including diabetes, liver problems, heart disease, asthma and many more!
7.Helping them to relax
Help your child find a sport that he or she enjoys. The more they enjoy the activity, the more likely they will continue to do it. Get the entire family involved. It is a great way to spend time together and part of their relaxation!!
Self-esteem is an important aspect of personal success and happiness. Developing the confidence of your child while they’re still young could lead to their positive view of life!
9.Developing social skills and making friends.
To develop and grow, kids need first-hand experience with turn-taking, self-regulation, teamwork, and perspective-taking.
10. To have fun!
Making the day fun-filled with so many activities to choose from will surely have your kids do the same routine.
But do not overdo it. When your child is ready to start, remember to tell your kids to listen to their bodies. Exercise and physical activity should not hurt. If this occurs, your child should slow down or try a less vigorous activity. As with any activity, it is important not to overdo it.
One of the most important things parents can do is encourage healthy habits in their children early on in life. It is not too late to start!
